The Journey . . . my second chance

A little more about me . . .

I've been very fortunate to have had some really fun and interesting experiences in my life. I've got pictures of some of these things, and I'll scan and post them for your amusement.

  • I used to do an Elvis show (yes, I was an Elvis impersonator!) that was REALLY popular - sold out crowds all the time. I did shows regularly in Tampa, but also some in Jacksonville and various other places in Florida, as well as in Gitmo Bay, Cuba.
  • I won a silver medal in archery at the 2006 National Veterans Wheelchair Games in Anchorage, Alaska. Check out my bio - Don Worley, Athlete #512
  • I was the undefeated welterweight boxing champion on the Navy boxing team from 1986-1989, earning me the nickname "Stingray."
  • I was the starting quarterback on the Navy Seabees flag football team in Gitmo. (My nickname was "Hitman," and I still like to use that one!)
  • I opened the Miss USA USO tour in Gitmo in 1987 with an Elvis rendition of "Johnny B Good."
  • I was asked to sing the national anthem at a Jacksonville Jaguars football game, although I was subsequently replaced by a uniformed disabled veteran. (I'm a disabled vet, but not a service-injured one. It was still an honor to be asked.)
